AMCI recently commissioned the largest independent study on financial performance of nonprofits ever undertaken. The research, conducted by Dr James Gaskin of Brigham Young University, finds that regardless of tax status or budget size, growth in net income, net revenue, and net assets are stronger when using association management companies (AMCs). The 2022 Growth Report analyzes 990s of more than 10,000 c(3) and c(6) organizations with budgets between $1M and $20M from 2015 – 2019.
Oh my goodness, can we do events! Finally, we have the opportunity to meet with members face to face! Making memories at conferences and events is an integral part of the success of an event. Yes, they absolutely need their continuing education credits; however, creating an engaging atmosphere with opportunities to connect, inspire and motivate is also extremely important to member engagement. We are fierce negotiators of hotel contracts, and we are very detail-oriented in our education credit process… we just like to have fun while we are doing that!
In addition to in-person events and virtual events, we have done hybrid events where some of the attendees were hybrid, AND some of the speakers were hybrid. It was seamless and engaging.
We have done international webinars where we have had attendees choose the breakout session that contained interpreters of the language they spoke.

We have learned to be tech savvy in ways we never imagined. From Word Press to WebBuilder, our Team can update the back ends of websites, connect AMS software to them, and update plug-ins like no other. Yes, there are times when we have to call in the super tech and outsource a problem that we cannot handle. With each of our clients comes a different website, a different platform, and nearly each has a different AMS. We have learned how to support each of the platforms that we have onboarded and are not afraid of new technology.
The Solution CEO, Dot Miller, is a numbers wizard. With a degree in mathematics and a knack for budget and finance, she personally reconciles all of the accounts for The Solution clients. Each month, the data is merged or entered into Quickbooks before Dot goes through each line item reconciling with the Bank Statement to ensure the accuracy of every penny in and out of the account.
Once the reconciliation is complete, Dot runs through the Profit & Loss Year over Year Comparison to question anything that may be out of line from the previous year, as well as the Budget vs Actual Reports to see if there is anything that needs to be explained to the client leadership. Dot meets with your Executive Director to ensure the Executive Summary to your association’s leadership is accurate before sending the reports to the Finance Committee/Board Leadership. We do outsource the 990 filings to our favorite accountant.
We understand the importance of an engaged membership and volunteer base. We are thought leaders in creating opportunities for members to serve on committees and in leadership roles within the organization. We also understand the importance of thanking volunteers for their time and recognizing them for their efforts. We will happily assist members with their registration, online login and any other help they may need along the way as well. A healthy, engaged membership begins with us.

Our team has served as volunteer leaders for our own Society for Association Executive organizations for years, and all eligible members of our team have the CAE designation. One of the goals of any organization is membership engagement and professional development. In order for us to ask our members to engage in the associations with we which work, we walk the walk. Each member of our team is a member of our state Society of Association Executives (SAE). We attend professional development classes to ensure we stay on top of industry trends, cutting edge technology, and innovative and creative ways to help our clients. We are involved in our SAE, serving on committees and boards of directors. Many of our team have earned their Certified Association Executive (CAE) Designation, a designation not easily achieved. We have an award winning team among our peers in the industry including Association Professional of the Year, CEO of the Year, Denver’s Forty Under 40 and Most Influential Woman.
